The non-blocking conditions for this network are reported here and discussed. An evaluation is carried out in order to show how the network complexity depends on the main network and traffic parameters, that is the switching matrix sizes and the type of multicast traffic. 2010 Elsevier B.V. Performance of Clos Multicast Networks

A three-stage circuit-switched Clos network, under various routing control strategies is considered for multicast operation. It was found that, under certain assumptions, this network become nonblocking as the number of middle switches increases. Also ,it was demonstrated that blocking probability can be reduced by certain modifications applied to its links. Key-Words: Multicast, simulation, bl...

On Multicast Rearrangeable 3-stage Clos Networks Without First-Stage Fan-Out

For the multicast rearrangeable 3-stage Clos networks where input crossbars do not have fan-out capability, Kirkpatrick, Klawe, and Pippenger gave a sufficient condition and also a necessary condition which differs from the sufficient condition by a factor of 2. In this paper, we first tighten their conditions. Then we propose a new necessary condition based on the affine plane such that the ne...

Strictly nonblocking three-stage Clos networks with some rearrangeable multicast capability

Hwang and Lin introduced a new nonblocking requirement for 2-cast traffic which imposes different requirements on different types of coexisting calls. The requirement is strictly nonblocking for point-to-point calls among the 2-cast traffic, and is rearrangeable for genuine 2-cast calls. We generalize the 2-cast calls to multicast calls and give a sufficient condition for such networks when the...

Modelling the Blocking Behavior of Multicast Clos Networks

This paper considers three-stage switching networks able to support multicast traffic, i.e. connections in which one inlet is connected to more than one output at the same time. The nonblocking conditions for this network are studied under the assumption of absence of any optimized routing of the connections inside the structure (the so-called strict-sense nonblocking networks). An analytical m...
